Welcome ! !

Fort Peck Community College's open doors provide opportunities for advancement through education to the people of the Fort Peck Assiniboine and Sioux Reservation.  The college was thirty years old in 2008 and has served thousands of students.

The college emphasizes a family style approach to higher education.  Support Services are provided so that students may learn skills and lifestyles to move their families towards wellness and economic independence in the future.  For students and for Tribal members, the unique culture, languages and history of the Assiniboine and Sioux show the path of their people.  For non-native students, tribal courses introduce a multi-cultural view of the world.  This helps a person to understand the complexity of Indian life.

The FPCC catalog is a guide to the courses of study, support services and programs offered at FPCC.  The catalog offers easy access to starting the programs that lead to a brighter future for students and their families.  To succeed, a student must work, strive and persevere.  Our doors are open to help you suceed.  Walk on in.

Goals and Objectives

FPCC has developed a variety of academic and vocational programs to make area residents more employable and to improve employee efficiency within local businesses, industries, and agencies.  Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees are offered as well as Associate of Applied Science and several vocational certificate programs.  In conjunction with Rocky Mountain College, Montana State University-Northern, and the University of Montana, articulation agreements allow students to acquire Bachelors degrees in elementary education, technology, information technology and psychology.  In 2006, University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota, introduced it's Executive MBA program to the FPCC campus.

Philosophy

To meet the unique educational needs of Indian people, FPCC believes that the opportunity for higher education must be provided on the reservation.  Since many of the people choose not to leave their homeland, it is necessary that education be brought to them.  FPCC is committed to preserving Indian culture, history, and beliefs, and to perpetuating them among the Indian people of all ages.  FPCC promotes self-awareness through education necessary to buid a career, a lifestyle, and to achieve a true sense of self-pride.  Although FPCC does not deny anyone the opportunity for higher education, the institution's primary purpose is to serve the American Indian population of the Fort Peck Reservation.
